Akron is called the City of Invention but was formerly known as the Rubber Capital of the World, and before that, as the original home of Quaker Oats. Built right on the southern edge of the Connecticut Western Reserve, Akron is a major trucking center and is served by two Interstate highways. The city is also served by rail and by air, the Akron-Canton Airport. Akron is the centre of a metropolitan area that includes the cities of Cuyahoga Falls, Tallmadge, and Stow and several villages. Akron is located within minutes of major shopping malls, sporting events including the NFL Buffalo Bills football and NHL Buffalo Sabres hockey teams.
