The residents of Alameda are heavily involved recycling to help save the environment and the land fills in the area. The organic (green) recycling stream will include: yard waste, food scraps and food-soiled paper. The city of Alameda has already taken steps to reduce water use at the Mif Albright golf course and city parks. On the western end of Alameda Island is Alameda Point. It has been used as an industrial area to a military installation since the early 1900�s. The city of Alameda is working with the Alameda Reuse and Redevelopment Authority to determine appropriate reuse activities for the land.
