The Historic Preservation Foundation of Eau Claire was founded from a proposed demolition of the Omaha & Minneapolis Railroad Depot & Chicago, St. Paul. The area was forgotten and left vacant as the bid to restore and save the building was unsuccessful therefore the depot was in 1987 destroyed. The effect on Eau Claire cannot be replaced. The purpose of the foundation is to encourage and work as a group in activities to educate the citizens of Eau Claire to participate in the cultural heritage and enjoy the buildings. The restoration, revitalization and preservation of historic properties in the Eau Claire area accomplish this goal.
