Founded by Edward and George Amerige, Fullerton was established in 1887. George H. Fullerton was the railroad executive who first brought the railroad line through, so the town was named for him. Incorporated in 1904, the city slowly transformed from wild mustard fields to Valencia orange, walnut and avocado trees.
