The county of Los Angeles was created before California was added in the union. Back in the year 1850 the people in this area was given their Rights of self-government. The land where Huntington Park is today was part of the Lugo family holdings. It was one of the last old ranchos to break up in the area in the late 1800�s. Even though the area went by different names in the late 1800�s and early 1900�s the name was not officially changed to Huntington Park until it was incorporated in 1906 on September 1st. The official population of Huntington Park in September of 1906 was 526.
