The city of Joliet, Illinois is proud of this nations heritage and shows it with pride with its Bicentennial Park. Back in the early seventies Joliet appointed a Bicentennial committee to celebrate our nation's two hundredth birthday in nineteen seventy-six. Joliet�s Bicentennial committee obtained a portion of the land in nineteen seventy-four that had been Joliet's first street in the eighteen thirties. They then planned the cultural park and together the city of Joliet raised the money and built the Bicentennial Park. Today locals and visitors alike still enjoy the Bicentennial Park built by the unity of the people of Joliet almost thirty years ago.
