The city of Lawrence, Kansas is home to the annual Wakarusa Festival which features live music and camping for a four-day weekend. The festival is as been held annually in early June since 2004. The site for the music festival is located just outside Lawrence in Clinton State Park. The festival has grown rather quickly as nearly 60,000 tickets were sold last year. It has a nationwide following and has gained notoriety for its different way of going about things. It is a much smaller festival than other ones like Bonnaroo and the state ensures that it remains exactly that way.
