The jewel of Schenectady parks is Central Park Rose Garden sited in 1959 at Wright Avenue at the entrance to Schenectadys Central Park. The designer, Charles D. Brown was a member of the Schenectady Rose Society and he also created its care program. The garden started with 400 rose bushes then over the years a reflection pool, rockery pool and triangular fountain were added. The original 400 rose bushes grew to 4,000 along with grandiflora and floribunda roses were added. Over the creek an arched bridge was installed along with weeping cherry trees later planted surrounding the creek. The gardens current status is outstanding and today remains a prominent destination for Schenectady visitors and residents.
