The Village of Skokie Illinois has a rich cultural heritage. It�s original settlers were immigrants, mostly from Luxembourg and Germany. The original settlers were seeking a prime location to relocate their families too. Skokie was originally incorporated in eighteen eighty-eight. Skokie Village originally was known as Niles. In the nineteen thirties the citizen of Niles Centre decided that the name of their village needed to be changed because of the constant confusion they had with the neighboring village of Niles. The names of Skokie was finally decided upon on November fifteenth nineteen forty and has remand the same to this day.
