Outdoor recreation possibilities in the city of Utica are endless. Proctor Park, a large city park spreads over 500 acres and has facilities for activities such as baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, and football. Starch Factory Creek winds along the whole length of the park and there are great walking trails along various sections of the creek. Utica is also home to the Val Bialas Recreation Center, one of only 2 municipally owned ski centers inside city limits in the U.S. The ski center has 5 trails at different degrees of difficulty and in also over 7 miles of groomed cross country trails.
