The Ben Franklin Statue sits on a bench at the front of Silas Bronson Library in Waterbury Connecticut. A renowned sculptor by the name of Paul Wayland Bartless created the design in 1919. The statue, made possible by a donation of $15,000 from Elisha Leavenworth weighs in at 1700 pounds. The statue after its completion made a tour through 22 cities with celebrations going on in each of the cities. The tour ended in Waterbury with a dedication on June 3, 1921. In 1982 the US State Department mad a replica for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Franklin being its first diplomat.
